Reset without a Rewind
2 min read

About four years ago I had a life changing decision to make. I prayed and fasted about it and I really believed that this was the path God wanted me to take. However, in the end I was disobedient. I decided not to go ahead because of fear. Also, I sought counsel from some people who I thought were wise people and they advised me that it was the wrong time to make the move. Looking back, I realize that those people were sensible and they advised me based on their own experiences. However, they were not able to advise me regarding this decision because they were not being led by God. And I did not say that they were not Christians. Sometimes, we believe that everyone who is saved is able to give godly counsel but the truth is some people rely on their intellect instead of trusting God by FAITH.
Now, I am not blaming those people for my final decision because in the end I was the one who God gave the instructions. For years I struggled and felt like a failure because I was disobedient. It was not until last year that God spoke to me and reminded me that He loves me unconditionally and nothing can separate me from his love. Then, a few nights ago I was watching a podcast and the guest said something that reminded me of that time in my life. He said, I choose to forgive myself for the choices I made in a season of my life when I didn't know better. WOW! I felt that God was speaking to me and reminding me again that in that season I made a decision based on where I was in my walk with him.
I want to encourage you as you step into this new month that you can have a Reset without a Rewind. What do I mean by that? You know how when we are using Google Maps and we may come off the route how the GPS calculates where you are and then reroutes you to where you need to go? I believe that this is the same thing that happens to us when we come off the path that God has laid out for us. When this happens we have to realize:
You can't go back so just start from where you are.
Be obedient to the Holy Spirit so that you don’t repeat the same mistakes.
I am learning to give myself grace and not to wallow in self-pity. Like the Prodigal Son, God is waiting with open arms to forgive and restore us when we return to him. Is there something that the Lord told you to do but you delayed or you were disobedient? Maybe the time has passed and you can’t undo that decision but you can start from where you are and ask God what he wants you to do in this season. Relax, and let the Holy Spirit (your GPS) reroute you to the destination God has in store for you. Then you can truly experience a Reset without a Rewind.
Blessings for the month ahead!
